Ladies First: InnovatHERS

We created a market and mixer vibe with great music and food at the historic Ballard House in Birmingham’s Historic Civil Rights District that featured an intergenerational lineup of all Black women artists and makers.

This event took place in 2017 at the crux of the Women’s March and Black Live Matter movements. We wanted to create a space of safety for Black Women to shine, process, and have a good time. And as always, wherever there are ladies, the fellas are sure to follow.

Our very first event was a hit! Over 100 hundred people came through to support and be supported. The vendors were able to make money and promote their brands. And more people came to learn about The Ballard House and the Civil Rights District. It is important to the thrival of the Civil Rights Districts that it not only be a reminder of our past but an active participant in our present and future.
